COL. OFFICE

Mr.Ellis,
Mr.Parkinson,
In continuation of Mr.A.J.Harding's
minute of the 7th of March last (Hong Kong/
72768/1930) on the subject of the selection
of a successor to Mr.Phelips as Auditor of
Hong Kong (who is due to retire on pension at the beginning of June) I now recommend the
selection of Mr.P.L.Collisson, O.B.E., of this
Department who, at the present time, holds the
appointment of Auditor in Uganda. This recom-
mendation is made in accordance with Mr.A.J.
Harding's wishes, and I have ascertained that
Mr.Collisson is willing to accept the appoint-
ment under the conditions set out in the
despatch from the Secretary of State to the
Officer Administering the Government, Hong
Kong, No.115 of the 15th of April, 1930.
As you are aware it is desirable that
the successor to Mr.Phelips should be appointed
as soon as possible and, from the departmental
point of view, there is no reason, so far as I
am aware, why Mr.Collisson should not proceed
to Hong Kong without undue delay, so, if my
recommendation is approved, I would ask that
Mr.Collisson may be informed that he has been
selected to fill the impending vacancy as
Auditor of Hong Kong and that it is desired
that his transfer should take effect as soon
after the 4th of June as may be convenient to
the Government of Uganda.
I presume that the expenses of Mr.
Collisson's transfer from Uganda to Hong Kong,
